Thanks for the information, Stan.
I think we will proceed thusly:
Sue, if you get me Mr. Hall=B9s address, I will contact him and make him awar=
e
of our thoughts. If Stan is correct (and Stan being correct is something I
would stake my life on), Mr. Hall has an electronic copy, which means we
would see it on the web site shortly after receiving a copy.
I=B9m really excited about this. I looked at the original when I was in
Somerset last year, but it was too poorly written for me to be able to
transcribe it (not to mention I wouldn=B9t have had the time to transcribe
it).
I=B9m also pleased because it would be a major addition to the web site and
should really light a fire under me to get on with the other things I=B9m
supposed to be doing with the site.
Finally...this is a suggestion to anyone near Taunton or Wells who is
looking to volunteer for some transcribing work. The Wells Journal has
articles written in the 1800s that relate to Wedmore (and surrounds). Stan
was kind enough to donate some of his transcriptions, and I did some of my
own on my last visit...those are on the web site now.
The libraries in Taunton and Wells both have microfilm copies of the Wells
Journal. It would be great to have all of the articles from the Journal on
the web site, as they give a really great picture of daily life in Wedmore,
and they almost always talk about specific people.
I=B9m only offering this as an idea...I am in no way implying that anyone
should have to do this...I just thought I=B9d throw it out there as an idea.
So if anyone is interested, let me know and we can coordinate things.
Take care.
