Hello all
A new selection of Quarter Sessions data. Please note, the spelling, =
punctuation, etc. are as written, just in case you wondered if I'd been =
at the gin again.
Information of John Westover of Wedmore that as he was returning home =
from Brent fair last Michaelmas day he met in a dark place of the way =
certain men [named], one of whom tore half his cloak off his back and =
struck him so that he fell off his horse. One of the men named said =
that he saw men fighting and Westover struck with a pike staff or =
raven's bill. Two informations given to William Smith 15th Dec. 1658.

Information of Nicholas Cole of Auston (Alston) Sutton in the parish of =
Weare, made to William Smith 18th Nov. 1636, that about six weeks since =
telling Leonard Churchouse that he had overcharged Mr. Henry Leister for =
some hay, he replied with oaths that the rogue (meaning Mr. Leister) =
should pay him so much, for townes people make him pay more then things =
are worth; and that the said Leister had killed a child whiles he was in =
the army and rosted it.

The appeal of John Popham, of Wedmore, against an order made upon him by =
the maior and justices of the City of Bristoll for the payment of =
sixteen pence a week towards the keeping of the child of Ellinor Brooke, =
born in the parish of St. Michell, Bristol, the mother having, it had =
been stated, liued loosely with others and hath named another father, =
referred to Sr. Ralphe Hopton and Edward Rodney for examination.

Whereas there was complaint made by Isabell Longe against Henry Longe of =
Blackforde, her husband, for not givinge her sufficient maintenance. =
And whereas yt was alleaged by the sayd Henry Longe that there was an =
end made of the Differencs betweene them by Mr. Richard Iveleafe and =
others their neighbours, and that there was meanes and maintenance =
allotted to her to her owne likeinge which now shee doth not accept of: =
yt is therefore ordered by the Court with the consent of both the said =
husband and wife that the sayd difference shall be againe referred unto =
the sayd Mr. Iveleafe and Robte Pope aforesaid, and they to sett downe =
any order and agreement therein what allotment of meanes yearly the sayd =
Henry Longe shall allow his said wife and to certifie the same.

Reference the last extract, I regret that I have suffered my butt to be =
in decay for a damn sight longer than eleven months, but I think the =
