Well the weather has been great, but the in-water season for the Sloop
ended on October 10th. Thanks to Mike and Igor for being available at the
last minute to get the boat down the river with the Isle Marie (Gordon) and
Interim (Al) flotilla. They had a great day for the trip, and the Sloop
appreciated staying in the water until October. (She said if the Cubs are
playing in October she should be in the water in October!)

The engine has been winterized and this Saturday I need to empty the boat
out, do a quick cleaning and put on the cover. I need a few hands to help
with this, so if you're available to drop down and help anytime between
about 10 am and 2 pm, please let me know. The weather sounds good--nice
fall boat weather. The directions to the boatyard are below; call if you
need any more information or a ride.

Thanks to all cruisers and crew who joined us on the water and virtually
this season. It was a great year for the sloop, even with the late start!

Boat Name: Sloop John B

DIRECTIONS (driving) to the boatyard
The boat's located at Croissant Marina, approximately S. 142nd St. , just
east of Torrence Avenue, in the fenced part of the yard. I usually take
the Dan Ryan to the Bishop Ford (used to be Calumet Expy)--the left fork at
the end of the Dan Ryan (to stay on 94, vs. the right fork, which is
57). I get off at the Dalton exit going east, take Dalton to Torrence (at
that point Dalton has become State street), where there is a stoplight (I
haven't counted stoplights to that point yet, but it's about a mile from
the expressway). Turn left (north) at Torrence and go over the bridge
(there's construction) and take your first left at the bottom of the
bridge--there should be a sign there for the Waterfront Pub. Take that
street (I think it's 143rd) until it hits the gravel lot and bear right
around the fence section. There's a lot by the Waterfront Pub, which will
be on your left, or you can continue along the fence until the opening and
pull into the yard there. The stern is facing the road, so you should be
able to see the Sloop when you're coming in.
