Season's Greetings
I saw three ships come sailing in . . .
For those of you still in town, come join me in my home-away-from-boat for
my sort-of-annual Christmas Open House. I officially inherited the 40+
year Christmas Eve Jewell tradition from my mother a few years ago, and
when I don't have the flu or a broken foot, I carry on the tradition. I
shifted it to the last Sunday before Christmas because, well, I'm not my
mother and my reality is different!
So come join me and Cap'n Jack (and the sleeping Sloop in absentia) for
soup and cider and wine and cheese and crackers and cookies. We'll sing if
anyone wants to sing (my piano was tuned this year!), watch old Christmas
specials if anyone wants to watch old Christmas specials, and just have a
good time.
Here are the details.
Sunday, December 21st, 2003
3:00 pm -- 9 pm, you can stay as little or long as you like
5468 S. Woodlawn Avenue, Chicago, Illinois.
(second entrance on the left, top bell. It's a courtyard building directly
across the street from the entrance for the St. Thomas the Apostle
School. If there is no street parking you may be able to get a spot in
their parking lot, across the street and a little south of my building.)
RSVPs appreciated if there is any chance you are coming. You can call
(773-752-6266) or reply to this e-mail. We'll make a party with as many or
as few people that come. We'll attempt the loaves and fishes miracle if
necessary!
Now the preemptive questions:
"Can I bring anything?"
Bringing yourself is the most important thing. BUT, if you want to bring
anything, please do! It's a soup (minestrone, oyster stew, posole) and
appetizer party, and I will provide mulled cider, mulled wine and water
also. Feel free to bring anything you think will complement that menu.
"Can I bring anyone?"
Absolutely.
Have a safe, blessed and fun holiday season.
Schuy/Lisa Jewell
(Cap'n Jack, and the Sloop John B., too)
